位于市区西北部清源山南麓，俗称“西北洋”。由三座名桥、三片水域和四座岛组成，面积达100公顷，其中水域面积82.28公顷，广场道路面积1.72公顷，绿化面积16公顷，种植树种达200多种。西湖繁花锦簇，波光潋滟，与清源山自然接壤，清源山秀丽翠绿的山色与西湖浮光荡漾的美景相得益彰，湖光山色浑然一体，极具园林之美，是市区具有良好生态环境的湖上园林。2001年12月获得建设部“中国人居环境范例奖”荣誉称号。
The West Lake Park is located in the north-west of the city proper at the southern foot of Qingyuan Hill. It was called the “North-west Ocean”which was composed of three famous bridges, three sections of water and four small isles, covering an area of 100 hectare of which the body of water occupies 82.28 hectare, the square and roads take 1.72 hectare, green space 16 hectare with more than 200 species of trees. The West-Lake Park, flowers blossoming like a piece of brocade, the ripples shining like silver chains, connects naturally to the Qingyuan Hill making the green mountains and the shimmering water contrast and complement each other appealing to the tourists with its garden beauty. It is now an excellent ecological lake park. In December 2001,it was granted the reward of "Model of Chinese Residential Environment " by the Ministry of Construction.

这是泉州的西湖!因为它位于泉州城的西隅,就称之为西湖.泉州还有一个东湖,比之名气大,然而许多人还是喜欢西湖!也许因为它的开阔,也许因为它的开放,总之,它是那样的让人感到大方,亲切!我的理解是不用门票的园林才能称之为公园，西湖公园就是这样的园林。
